Hanoi, like other vietnamese cities, is a labyrinth of small streets and back alleys that wouldn't be on any maps if there were maps at atll... The stenciled graffitis on the left advertise construction companies or "B-Tong", from the French "béton", or concrete. These ads are ubiquitous on the walls and consist in the initials of the company followed by "b-tong" and a (cell-)phone number. Why vietnamese construction companies use the walls this way in a quasi-exclusive fashion remains a mystery. Photo taken on 2007-02-04, Hanoi, Vietnam
