Pantheon
Artwork created in 2001
- Renderer: POV-Ray
- Right after ";The prisoners", I came upon
an image in a tourist guide that showed exactly the same effect in real life.
Roma's Pantheon is a Roman temple built by the emperor Hadrien and turned into
a church in 608. It's particularly remarkable because of the dome opening
known as the oculus which let the sun light enter as shown here. This image is
a rendition of the effect, using the place's colours, props and passing
tourists, though other elements are completely imaginary.
- The statues are nowhere Roman or Greek, only good old Mickey and
Vicky (with DAZ' archery pack).
- The tourists are motion-blurred low-res Poser figures.
- Most of the other objects are CSG, including the big columns, the benches
and the fence. The small columns are based on Nathan O'Brien's Corinthian
columns and I remade the capitals with blobs to get better close-ups.
