Soulages

Artwork created in 1996
- Renderer: POV-Ray
- The title refers to the French abstract painter Pierre Soulages, known for his black monochrome paintings. The deep brush strokes on the painting surface create wonderful light effects. The initial concept behind this image was to mimic these effects with a simple black pigment and a normal{} statement, but it didn't really work.
- The small characters (men and women) are from an unknown author. They're triangle meshes converted to the POV-Ray format.
- At that time, I felt that I had more or less exhausted the cool ideas that could be done without "realistic" human or animal characters. These little dummies helped a little but not that much, and without Poser I would probably have stopped doing 3D.
